F.R.O.G. Binders

This year, your child will be using a F.R.O.G. Binder.  F.R.O.G. stands for "Fully Responsible Organized and Growing ". The purpose of the binder is to help your child stay organized as they grow and learn responsibility. Your child needs to bring the binder to school every day. Below you will find a brief description of each section of the binder.

News from the Pond (inside front cover pocket): Newsletters & School notes will be placed here.  Progress reports and other important papers will also be placed here when necessary. Please check daily.

FROG Rules: This is a copy of the rules for taking care of the FROG binder.

Zippered pouch: This pouch is for lunch money, field trip money, scholastic money and any other money that is to be turned in.  Please place money in an envelope and label with your child's name and what the money is for so that it doesn't get "misplaced". Dr. notes or absentee notes may be placed here also.

Agenda: Students are required to purchase an agenda book at the beginning of the year. Homework is written in the agenda daily. Behavior is also recorded in the agenda on a daily basis.

Homework pocket: This pocket is for homework and any unfinished work.  The front pocket is for assigned homework and the back pocket is for unfinished class work-unfinished class work is expected to be completed for homework and returned the next day.

Communication Log: This section provides a space for you and me to communicate.  Please flag the sheet with the sticky note to alert me about new notes. Please initial any notes I write in the log to indicate that you've read them.

Spelling Section: Every Monday, your child will receive a new spelling list that goes with our story for the week. This list will be placed in the front pocket. Behind this, there are some neat ideas for practicing spelling words. There will also be a list of high frequency words for 2nd grade. We call these "Frog Words" because they "hop up" in our reading all the time.

**At home practice is highly beneficial and recommended.

Please encourage your child to take good care of their binder.  Also, please be responsible and check the binder daily.  Your example of responsibility will rub off on that little tadpole of yours!!!  Remember - children learn by example - monkey see, monkey do!!

Thank you,

Mrs. Parks
